Avisual effects artist behind the much-maligned Justice League CGI has claimed that the entire special effects department on the film were unhappy with the distracting work done on Henry Cavill's moustache in the film, and that they had limited time to digitally remove it.
Superman's deformed upper lip, visible throughout the film, was a result of a moustache Cavill had grown for the forthcoming Mission: Impossible 6, which rival studio Paramount Pictures refused to allow him to shave for Justice League reshoots.
Writing in a Reddit AMA, the anonymous VFX artist said that Paramount were unwilling to allow Warner Bros to shave Cavill's facial hair.
"Paramount should've shaved him and stuck a fake one on for MI6," he wrote. "Ridiculously petty of them. We did tests on already shot footage of Superman to add a beard as well, to show the MI6 team at Paramount it was loads easier.
"Warner Bros offered to pay for all the beard adding shots in MI6," he continued. "They said no."
