Full HD version of Justice League leaked online as film struggles at the box office
A full HD version of Justice League, Warner Bros’ $300 million entry in the troubled DCEU, was leaked online on Friday.
The blows just keep on coming Justice League, as if Doomsday himself were pounding Warner Bros’ superhero film. On Friday, approximately a month after its theatrical release, the film was leaked on pirate websites, in full 1080p HD.
Leaks are common - in markets such as India and Russia, piracy is a problem that has yet to be effectively tackled - but to have a pristine copy of the film be made available online is rare. Recently, the Ryan Reynolds-Samuel L Jackson-starrer, The Hitman’s Bodyguard
The news would come as another in the assault of bad luck their $300 million movie has been subjected to. The film lost its director, was rushed in time for its November release, received mediocre reviews, and is projected by Forbes to lose over $50 million at the box office. To make matters worse, rival studio Marvel’s The Avengers - the film Justice League is trying to emulate - earned over $1.5 billion at the box office. Justice League is struggling to get past $700 million - more than $100 million less than the theatrical gross of the last DCEU film, Wonder Woman.
Warner Bros. announced a change in leadership post the fiasco, and star Ben Affleck has yet to confirm his return as Batman. The hardcoded subtitles suggest that the leak appears to have originated from South Korea. Cue the Sadfleck meme.
